Remote Education at DPHHS
This page includes information on our scholars and remote education during the closing of DPHHS. En español, click HERE.
All updates and resources for scholars and families are accessible here to support remote learning for all scholars. Instruction for all grade levels will commence on Monday, March 23rd 2020 at 8:30AM. Scholars will need functioning computers/laptops and access to the internet to begin class engagement. Stay in the know with all that is happening by following our instagram and twitter accounts.
Please review the DPHHS Remote Learning Plan for Families document outlining the details of remote learning at DPHHS including frequently asked questions and a suggested schedule for scholars. Scholars should start each day by logging into Clever and accessing Google classroom to review the assignments for each day. Teachers will hold daily tutoring sessions and be available to answer questions from scholars via Zoom.
Please find the apps that scholars will need in blue below as well as some additional resources we have put together to supplement your scholar’s learning. Additionally, if you are having issues with your computer, internet, or one of the platforms below, please complete a support request HERE and someone from our Ops team will reach out to you within 24 hours.

Clever provides access to many online learning tools including Google Classroom, Edulastic, and more. Start by logging in with the scholar’s DP email and password. If your child is having trouble logging in, please contact your scholar’s advisor. (see link above)
Log in to Google Classroom with the scholar’s DP email and password. Assignments will be posted regularly through Google Classroom. Students will also need to turn work in on Google Classroom. If your scholar is unable to log in, please contact your scholar’s advisor. (see link above)
Scholars and families can log in to Jupiter Ed with their own log-in information. Scholars’ grades will continue to be updated here regularly with at least two grades per week. If you or your scholar is unable to log in, please contact your scholar’s advisor. (see link above)
Please see below for a list of other helpful educational resources that are free for families to help support your scholar while school is closed. We encourage families to leverage the resources below to supplement remote learning instruction while our school is closed. In addition, scholars are still expected to meet their word count goals as measured by Accelerated Reader.
Log in to Accelerated Reader with the scholar’s AR account. Scholars can look up their username by clicking “Forgot Username”. If they forgot their password, please contact your scholar’s advisor. Scholars may take quizzes anytime on books they read.
SCHOLASTIC LEARN AT HOME
Scholastic Learn at Home provides 20 days’ worth of active learning journeys designed to reinforce and sustain educational opportunities for those students who are unable to attend school. Families are encouraged to explore this resource.
The myON digital library includes thousands of digital books with optional reading supports for students from pre-K through grade 12. Use the log-in info below to access these resources.
NY PUBLIC LIBRARY SimplyE APP
SimplyE is The New York Public Library’s free e-reader app that makes it easy to borrow e-books. It is available on the App Store or Google Play. Apply for a library card through SimplyE to gain access to an array of digital resources available from home during our period of closure.
NewsELA is a great platform with news articles on a variety of topics with comprehension quizzes. Daily assignments may be given through NewsELA.com. They can also access this through their Clever portal.
IXL Learning is a great platform scholars are familiar with and have used at school. Scholars can log in to IXL through the Clever portal and practice ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies standards. Please reach out to your scholars’ teachers for specific standards to focus on.
CS FIRST: CODE WITH GOOGLE
This is a great educational resource to get your scholar some experience with computer science and coding. This is a free computer science curriculum that makes coding easy to teach and fun to learn.
MUSEUM VIRTUAL TOURS
A number of famous museums around the world have free virtual tours that can be accessed online at the link below, including the British Museum in London and Musée D’Orsay in Paris. Feel feel to explore with your scholar and other family members.
Child Mind Institute discusses ways families can talk about Covid-19 with their small ones, teens and other young adults, as well as how to deal with anxiety and also struggling behavior in kids at home.
